Villejuif Gustave-Roissy railway station
2oo14, Paris
– Advance Design Leader for Jean Paul Viguier
Villejuif Gustave-Roissy railway station located in an urban fabric where a deep transformation is planned around the theme of «Cancéropôle of the Ile-de-France region», in which the Gustave-Roussy Institute is the central element. As this project will make this district prime employment area that will attract many visitors and will undoubtedly create a strong demand for a modernization of urban Fabric, public services, facilities and housing. The scientific theme surrounding the Gustave-Roussy Institute and the urban campus ambience will provide a working spectrum to ensure continuity between the station space and the urban environment. The architecture will explore answers to echo the sense Jacques Ferrier describes in his preamble and focus on the continuity between the elements of the scientific campus and the new neighborhood: landscape and nature, knowledge and science, public health and behavior. Rooms of exchange and the passenger building will be designed with the spaces of the city and the new constructions of this district identifying the mix of diverse synergies. Indeed, if the station has functional constraints that are specific to it and which must be met within the framework of the project, it must and can doubtlessly share a whole range of places and functions with the city and assert its role as a central facility to the city without breaking the harmony of the displacements and atmospheres.
